Manaus is the capital city of the Amazonas state in the northwestern part of Brazil. It is located in the core of the Amazon rainforest, on the northern bank of the Rio Negro, just 10 kilometers upstream from where the Rio Negro merges with the Solimoes to form the Amazon River. Manaus serves as the entry point to the Amazon. The immense wealth and variety found in the nature of the Amazonas is truly astounding, and Manaus is the base for most Amazon tour operators. The city offers numerous sights to see and a wide range of majestic buildings. The floating dock, the market, the Opera house, The Amazon Theatre, the National Institute for research in the Amazon, and the Ponta Negra are all worth visiting. The Museu do Indio boasts an excellent ethnographic collection. High-quality handicrafts from indigenous and traditional communities can be found in the Galeria Amazônica. Manaus is a pleasant and friendly city. Despite being a bustling hub, it maintains a relaxed atmosphere. Manaus has a unique charm that makes it impossible to dislike.
