Stay
About the destination: Singapore is a city-state and the tiniest country in Southeast Asia. Singapore boasts the highest standard of living in Asia and is a spotlessly clean, efficient, regulated, modern city. The city has an intriguing blend of old and new cultures, merging the skyscrapers of the Business District with a very interesting mix of ancient cultures in some of its districts. Singapore is one of the greenest cities to such an extent that the city is known as the Garden City. One of the main attractions are the Botanic Gardens, which includes the superb Orchid garden that is beautifully landscaped and has a great variety of orchids. The Merlion is probably Singapore's most famous landmark. This Merlion structure is located at Merlion Park, which is situated in the Central Business District. There are some captivating ethnic areas such as Little India, Arab Street, Chinatown and Geylang. These areas are definitely worth a visit if you want to experience some authentic Singaporean culture. Other attractions include world class museums, stunning colourful shops, Marina bay and lush parks. In addition to the shopping, Singapore has fantastic food. Being home to various ethnic groups, Singapore has created a wonderful mix of flavours and textures in their cuisine. Singapore is one of the most vibrant and modern cities in Asia with a tropical climate, with delicious food, excellent shopping and a vibrant night-life scene it has become one top destination in its own right.

4. Canggu
Stay
About the destination: Canggu is a coastal village and 10 km beach on the south coast of Bali, Indonesia. It's situated roughly 10 kilometers north of Kuta, and offers a much more laid-back atmosphere for dining, cultural and beach activities. The main streets in Canggu are Jalan Batu Bolong, Jalan Padang Linjong, Jalan Batu Mejan and Jalan Tanah Barak. Along Jalan Batu Bolong you'll find the temple of the dead, Pura Merajapati, and the Pipitan Cemetery. Along the beach there are two main temples, Pura Batu Bolong and Pura Batu Mejan, both of which are hundreds of years old and were initiated for building by Dang Hyang Nirartha. The Canggu area used to boast scenic views of paddy fields and coconut groves but current rapid developments are quickly replacing these traditional views with private villas. Canggu has become popular among surfers as a longboard-friendly surf spot, one of the few on the island. Three main strips have developed for tourists - both surfers and non-surfers. The spotlight on the area as a surf destination has been helped along by the presence of Deus Ex Machina's Bali outpost, the Deus Temple of Enthusiasm, and its annual contest that focuses on classic single fin longboarding.

5. Kuta Bali
Stay
About the destination: Speaking from an economic perspective, Kuta is the most significant tourist area in Bali and was the first to be developed. To draw a comparison, we could describe Kuta as the "Benidorm" of Bali, albeit on a different scale. The most crucial part of Kuta lies between Jalan Legian, Jalan Pantai Kuta (beside the beach) and Poppies Lane II. In these streets, you'll find shops, restaurants, pubs, hotels and much more. If you follow the beach towards Legian (to the north), you'll also find plenty of entertainment. Kuta is the preferred area of Bali for those who want to experience the island's nightlife. The majority of visitors are Australians. Kuta Beach, with its 3 kilometres of white sand, is the liveliest beach in Bali. Due to its excellent surf, it's a favourite among surfers who visit the island. For swimming and sunbathing, there are quieter and more beautiful beaches in Bali, such as Nusa Dua or Jimbaran, which is famous for its fish restaurants.
